“Powered by” — six layouts

Six ways to set the West Hartford AI credit, each rendered on the real board with the real stylesheet and the real Manrope. Everything above the credit line is identical in all six, so the only thing changing is the attribution.

What is actually wrong with the current one

Measured, not guessed. The wordmark file is a 1100×320 artboard but the artwork inside it is only 956×183 — 43% of the file’s height is empty air, and the padding is uneven left to right (52 units of margin on the left, 92 on the right).

  • It renders small. At 1.15 em the wordmark’s letters come out 0.55 em tall against the byline’s 0.72 em caps — 24% short.
  • It sits high. The dead space under the artwork lifts the wordmark about 0.1 em off the text baseline, so it floats rather than sitting on the line.
  • The gaps are lopsided. The space before the mark is thinner than a word space; the space after it is nearly double that.
  • The line breaks badly. The byline is one long sentence, so at most column widths it wraps and strands the separating bullet at the end of the first line with “powered by” orphaned below it. This is probably the part that reads as wrong before you can name why.

All six options below use a version of the file cropped to the artwork, which makes size and alignment exact instead of a guess. Option A is the current build, kept for comparison.

A

As shipped today

Loose artboard, 1.15 em tall, nudged by eye. The letters land at 76% of the byline’s cap height and the mark floats about a tenth of an em above the text baseline.

B

Same place, correct metrics

Artboard cropped to the ink, height set so the wordmark matches the byline’s cap height, baselines aligned, and the separating bullet dropped for a wider space, which survives a line wrap in a way punctuation does not.

C

Same place, one size up

As B but 15% taller than the surrounding caps, which is how most logos are set inside running text — a mark matched exactly to cap height tends to read as smaller than the words around it.

D

Moved to a credit line under the board

The byline goes back to being only about freshness. The credit gets its own line and a hairline rule, so the wordmark is not competing with a timestamp for the same sentence.

E

Credit line, pushed right

Same as D, right-aligned. Quieter: the eye finishes the last score and finds the credit on the way out rather than head-on.

F

Credit block, wordmark leading

“Powered by” drops to a small caps label and the wordmark carries the line at full size. The most visible option, and the closest to how a sponsor credit normally sits under a widget.
